Butter Cake Recipe!!!

You are one lucky reader to have found this place. I'm feeling especially generous today, so today, I will be handing down, to you, a secret family recipe that was inherited since 250 years ago. But there is one flaw to this appreciative gesture: I don't have a 250-year-old secret family recipe (Or do I...?). So I'll just have to make do with a butter cake recipe, ripped off straight from the newspaper.

The other day (1st June. to be exact.), my dad found a little something between the pages of the newspaper that he'd like to try; a butter cake recipe. When he said 'I wanted to try it', he meant 'I will drag my son down to the kitchen to help me'. So after a week of delays, he finally dragged me into the kitchen, and got started.

Here are the ingredients you are gonna need:
  • 250g butter
  • 210g castor sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 200g self-raising flour, sifted with 1/2 teaspoon salt, and
  • 4 tablespoon fresh UHT milk

Ze Instructions!:
1) Grease and line a 20cm cake tin with greased greaseproof paper. Preheat ze oven to 170° C.

It said to do it first, but we put it last on ze list. Yeah, we're rulebreakers, and proud of it.
Plus, I dunno why the empty tin was in there.

2) Cream the butter and sugar until light and creamy. One way to make sure that it's creamy (Because I didn't know how to recognize it, even when I'm facing it.) is that the butter does not stick to the whisk.

3) Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition until mixture is light and creamy. Than add the essence.

4) Fold in sifted flour gradually to mix, before finally adding the milk. Mix until well combined.

Yup, that's well combined alright. I guess. Creamy yellow mess.
5) Turn out mixture into prepared tin. Level out the mixture at the sides but allow a shallow well in the centre. The keyword is SHALLOW. This is to enable the cake to level up evenly during ze baking.

As you can see below, my dearest father did not listen to his son's constant disagreeing mumbles. Let's see what happens...

Not shallow enough, dad. Not shallow enough.
6) Bake in pre-heated oven for 55-60 minutes or until cooked through when tested with a skewer.

Optional Waiting Activities:
  • Dance to a song (In my case, Bruno Mar's 'Treasure)
  • Show dancing moves to mother. (This is a risky activity, as it can cause the mother to start her lecture on colleges and the importance of education. This will depend on the attitude of mothers.)
  • Let sofa swallow you into comfort as you watch the latest episode of your fave TV show
  • Watch curiously at the oven as the tin spins around for the hour.

 7) Let it cool before serving the cake.

And we're done. :) As I proceeded to slice the cake, my baby bro pointed out how familiar it seemed to him. I stared at the cake, slowly realising the likeness of the cake.

Like a burnt pimply pellet-eating, ghost-chomping arcade character.
Also, we noticed the peculiar bump of the cake. Then I remember that it was due to the lack of shallowness and the ignorance of a certain person.

This is clearly a case of ididn'tlistentomyawesomeson-tis.
It was delicious. :D And I'm gonna attempt the second time this evening, so I'll try to upload the pics as soon as possible. In the meantime, you can either try this recipe, or continue drooling at the images of the awesomely home-made creation. ;)

Can't Live Without Rice

Hah, that's the cold, cold truth. I really can't live with rice. :/ Even though it makes me fat. God, it's so hard to get rid of it! D:

Let's face it. Malaysians love rice. You can never, EVER find a person who takes one look at rice and pukes. Or downright reject you when you offer them rice. Unless their on a diet (Like I am.). And maybe they're allergic to rice, or have phobia of rice. Or BOTH. O.O But I've yet to see people who turns down rice. :)
Yet, I wonder, if rice makes me this fat, why aren't the Japanese fat too?

Realizing the fact that chicken ain't nice without rice. Veggies tastes yucky without it too. Sigh... Will I ever defeat the desire to eat rice?

SkyJuice~ D:

'What?' I asked my friend. He said he had been drinking skyjuice at the dining hall. Still puzzled, I repeated the same question. He stared at me as if he was talking to a plank, and smiled. God, how I hate it when he smiled like that. He then brought me a glass 'full of skyjuice'. I looked at it, thinking what is it gonna taste like? Maybe it tastes like the sky?

What does the SKY taste like?

I took a sip, not acknowledging the mischievous glint in my friend's eyes. Funny, something feels familiar. It tastes like plain water. Oh.

Skyjuice IS plain water. D:

A Boys' Day Out~! :)

Hello people, and a Happy Chinese New Year to you people. Yesh, it's too early, but who cares!? :D
I had a very fun day today. Very... Uh... Different. It's a boys' day out! It seems that Girls' Night Out sounds nicer though. XD

Today, me and my three guy friends (Ugh... It gives me chills to say that.) went to Sunway Pyramid to watch the Green Hornet, in 3D! :D :D :D It was very nice, 'specially Kato~! The Green Hornet is more of a comedy relief to me. But who cares? Everyone has a purpose. :) Oerall, I'd give it an 8/10! No full marks, 'cause I don't wanna be too generous~ But this is from my pointa view, so I don't care whether you like it or not. What matters is, DON'T BLAME ME IF YOU WATCH IT AFTER THIS AND DIDN'T FEEL THE SAME. :D :D :D

Afterwards, we went to a sushi place! It's called Sakae Sushi~ That was the best place I've been yet~ :D I've never, EVER been to a sushi place where there's mini conveyer belts everywhere~! :D

I will continue tomorrow. I feel too tired to write the rest of the parts. :D And besides, we need a lil suspense to spice our life. :) You with me, people~? Good! So, watch this space for me, and I bid you, G'Nite! :)

----------> This space here. Thanks~! :D <----------

Malaysian Food - Roti Canai and Curry Puffs~! :D

OK, people, a few days back, I said that I would be talking 'bout food~ So here it is~!!! :D

Malaysia has a variety of foods, and 'roti canai' is one of them. Pronounced as 'Roh-Tee Cah-Nai', if directly translated, it means 'flat bread'. Roti canai can be found at almost anywhere in Malaysia. It has a variety of flavours, from a plain one, to having sardines or cheese in it. :D
You can also dip it with anything like dahl ( A kind of orangey curry. Very nice. :)), condensed milk or sambal ( Spicy gravy. XP)! But not tomato ketch
up. Never, EVER try roti canai with tomato ketchup. -___-
It is concidered one of my fave foods 'round here, other than rice~!

Roti Canai with dahl gravy and sambal~! Yum, yum! :D :D :D

This is what we Malaysians call 'Karipap' (Pronounced 'Kah-Ree-Pahp') It's translated as 'curry puff' and it is a smaller version of the Cornish Pastry. :D Like Roti Canai, curry puffs has lots of fillings, such as potatoes and meat, such as the pic above, or sardines! I like sardine curry puffs better! :D :D :D

OK, that's enough from me. Will be back with some more interesting foods~!!! :D :D :D

OK, Reflections of the Day~!

OK, today's topic will be 'bout Malaysia's lifestyle! Well, to put it in my own words, Malaysia is kinda unique. But then again, everywhere has it's own uniqueness~ :) From what I've heard, Malaysia is unique because of the harmonious unity of the three main races, Malay, Chinese and Indian, and other subraces. But what I really like is the various types of food~!!! :D 'Roti Canai', chinese fried rice, naan bread... Ooh, just thinking 'bout it makes me hungry! I'll be back with this topic later! With some pictures~! Time for dinner! :D :D :D
